Media Training

As in-house media coach to three Foreign Secretaries and their junior ministers, and advisor to British ambassadors on media technique, I have strong experience of coaching well-practised media performers at the highest level. At the other end of the scale, I have provided coaching for beginners, so the full range of training is available. My own broadcasting for the BBC, Sky, ITV, Channel Four and Al Jazeera enables me to coach from current experience. I can provide you with:

  • Individual coaching for a specific media task
  • A full-day programme at your premises on technique
  • My workshop on theory and practice, ethics and philosophy, how to organise and prepare, strategy and tactics, tailored for the challenges you face

My coaching goes deeper than technique. Using case histories, we teach you how to isolate the problem, develop your strategy and stick to it, how to make critical media judgements under pressure and keep your nerve, how to establish authority, trust and respect.

You will learn:

  • broadcast and newspaper interview technique
  • how to do a press conference, arrive and depart with dignity in the face of the media pack
  • how to develop and maintain media relations
  • how to survive a media siege

You will be equipped with the techniques that stood up to every international crisis since 2000.
